so, new york has a rather high west indian immigrant population. i don't have the raw numbers, but for those really interested, census.gov would be able to help with that. anyway, as we were walking down a street today, we saw two west indian men mixing concrete and talking to each other. we walk past the men, and immediately siri asks me -- "mommy, are they speaking chinese?" jeff and i both tell her that the men were actually speaking english, just with a different accent, and that if she listened carefully, she could probably understand them. siri seemed skeptical.
i'm not sure who should be more offended: me or the men.
