siri "filling out her face.."

we
ran into our neighbor craig today who said siri is really "filling out her face. she looks more like a little girl and less like a baby." so true. siri does look more and more girl-like, and she acts more and more toddler-like as well. while siri's vocabulary continues to grow, the word "no" takes over her repertoire. she gets frustrated easily, and often asks mommy and daddy to "stop" (schop) when we're not doing what she asks. it's frustrating having big thoughts without the big words (or sentences). repetition crept up on us quickly this weekend. siri had been copying nuvi (our gps) since friday, and will repeat when nuvi says "turn right," "keep right," "turn left," etc. repeating words also means we definitely have to watch our language. jeff said "shit" yesterday while driving, and didn't even faze us until siri very clearly repeated "shit, shit, shit, shit, shit...." luckily, jeff was quick on his toes and started using sentences with "sit" in them, and siri then repeated "sit" over and over instead of the former.

siri has been battling a minor cold since last saturday, which culminated into an ear infection. she's currently on antibiotics. mommy is recovering from the cold (which included a very nasty sore throat), but daddy seems to have had a very mild case of it. lucky him.

* maia trying to roll over
* siri having a blast at the eureka valley rec center, in part because she was showing off for mainly aunt jenn, but also uncle
* siri with pigtails that her nanny, anna, put in her hair. i haven't been able to replicate it since siri won't sit still long enough for me.

half moon bay (plus bonus)

lao lao and papa tim are visiting us for a couple of days, and siri is absolutely thrilled. at first, siri was a bit skeptical of lao lao, but after about 10 minutes she completely warmed up to her and it's been smooth sailing ever since.

we took a trip to half moon bay and hung out at a beach today. in preparation for it, lao lao bought siri a beach pail set yesterday. siri was so happy with her pail and kept saying "pail." then, out of no where, she says "pail, no share." we had no idea she even knew how to say "share" -- apparently there are words stored in that little brain of hers ;)

* siri had so much fun with her new pail...at first
* then she just wanted to walk around with lao lao and run with daddy
* it's so funny getting buried by papa tim that both lao lao and siri find it amusing
* mommy circa 1981
* eureka valley rec center

ku in the wawa

siri's swim class has been going really well the past two classes. she hasn't cried at all, although she informs us before each class that she plans to ku (cry in chinese) in the wawa.

mark twain's summer in sf

although it's the beginning of july, i certainly could have
been fooled. we went to rodeo beach today, and it was FREEZING! we stepped onto the beach bundled in layers, which was highly reminiscent of childhood beach trips in oregon. nevertheless, siri had a good time combing for sticks, agates and shells. we then went further north into tiburon and had a picnic there. the fog burned off, of course, by the time we were ready to head home. i'm sure it was a beautiful, sunny afternoon in the north bay.

pictures:

* siri and emma playing soccer
* siri offers emma a clover
* rodeo beach lookin' a lot like the oregon coast
* much of what siri does at the playground: stand around watching others play
* so excited that some togo menus have pictures on them
* observing a little girl playing at the playground
* hoarding all the sandbox toys
* playing on the "wee" (which is incidentally also, driving up or down hill)
* siri wearing daddy's old clothes
* walking up castro street while being filmed by uncle todd
* playdough that mommy made -- siri got to choose the color for it. she chose brown. really exciting.
