Week 29 Belly Shots

Here are the week 29 belly shots. The linea nigra is pretty obvious now, which wasn't the case with our last monthly update.

We're now officially in the third trimester! This is exciting -- only 11 weeks to go until the due date!

registry update

jeff came home this past weekend, and we updated our registries at babies r us and at target. the caveat is that while we registered at these two places, we would appreciate used items in general (minus the diapers, wipes and any other sort of "intimate" stuff :)). so, if you want to get us stuff, please don't feel the need to buy directly off our registries. reusing is best! but, of course, don't feel obliged to get us anything. we'll be working on the baby's room as soon as jeff is home permanently.

here are some pictures from this past weekend. we'll update with the usual belly pics sometime later this week or early next week per our four week update rule. as you can see, the backdrop is no longer just the plain white door -- it now consists of my dissertation proposal outline. yes, folks, i've been busy working :)

beethoven and the baby...and warmth

during my last visit to sf, jeff and i went to the symphony. there were three numbers total, and the final number was beethoven's 7th. the baby moved around a lot during the performance of the 7th, and we decided that she must like beethoven so bought a beethoven cd. i play the cd regularly -- about 2-3 times a week. at first it seemed coincidental, and it still may be coincidence, but the baby gets REALLY active when beethoven begins playing. i've been documenting the times of day that i press that play button, and it's not that consistent -- sometimes in the earlier morning, sometimes midday, and sometimes in the late afternoon/early evening. i'm not sure whether she loves beethoven or hates him. i don't get the same amount or type of activity when i play kitaro, enya, bob dylan or johnny cash.

it's also really, really hot. okay, perhaps it's not really THAT hot (hovering around mid 70s to low 80s), but i'm constantly warm. we have one fan that is confined to the upstairs, which btw, evie absolutely loves and willingly ditches me to sprawl out in front of it. we need something else. an a/c, a swamp cooler or more fans should do it. jeff's projects when he comes home next weekend: buy one (or a few) of the above and install it (them), and buy/install a screen door for our front door so we can get some more breeze in here. the warmth makes it a bit difficult to concentrate on being productive, so i'm updating our blog instead.

and, p.s. -- the baby hiccups at least two times during each day. at first i was a bit alarmed, thinking something was wrong since the "movements" (if you can call them that) were light and rhythmic feeling and seemed to affect my entire uterus. then i caught up on my reading, and it turns out they're baby hiccups. it's super cute.

a note about the shower

by now you've probably all received an evite to our august 10th shower. we know most, if not all of you won't be able to make it, and please do NOT feel obligated to buy us anything. we just wanted to be sure you were included on our invitation list.

rounding out the second trimester

we have less than two weeks left of the second trimester and then we move into the third! the baby is still as active as she was a few weeks ago, and she is definitely responding to loud noises with lots of squirming. since i've always had a *very* innie belly button, it has not popped, but rather started to close. this is a new development and it looks a bit weird.

we decided to brave the babies r us registry this past weekend. the whole experience (and it's not over yet) was extremely overwhelming. the registry list provided by the store is absurdly long, and we don't think we necessarily need everything on that list. we dragged our feet for about an hour and realized that we probably needed to do some more research before we can register for more "necessities." i'm sure we'll keep you posted on our registry craziness.

jeff came home for the longest duration of time since he started his internship this summer. only 25 more days to go until he comes home permanently! i guess he wanted to make up for lost time, so he took a ton of photos of me -- a select few are posted here.

until next time...

the pan-rosenberg female contingent

here we are! evie insisted on being a part of this week's belly documentary. she asked to be held, climbed up onto my shoulder and refused to get back down. it was super cute ;)

zucchini

we still have our garden that we acquired last year. but, unlike last year, we're not able to devote as much time and energy to maintaining it, so we only planted some zucchini, daikon and tomatoes. here is a picture of the world's largest pesticide-free zucchini (from my garden)! i was absolutely shocked and amazed at its size. i made zucchini bread with half of it and a primavera sauce with the other half.

i know this is a disappointment for those who wanted to see pregnancy photo updates, but the zucchini/garden update is pretty exciting too, no? :)
