San Diego

At Jeff's request to leave for a couple of days (so he could study, not 'cause he was tired of us :)), my mom, Siri and I took a trip to San Diego. We stayed at a motel on the beach, hung out there, went to Little Italy and visited Old Town San Diego. Siri HATED the sand when she first touched it. She kept picking up sand then quickly rubbing it away from her hands. She hated when grains were stuck to her too. But, she LOVED the water. She sat waiting for waves and got super excited when the water would hit her and reced. FYI: We bought Siri a new swimsuit in anticipation of the trip. We decided that we didn't want to put our little girl in a bikini so bought a tankini. Due to Siri's size however (especially around the tummy), the tankini fits like a bikini...It was overall, a fun-filled couple of days. Here are some pictures from our trip:
* Lao Lao and old jail cell
* Proof that we were at Old Town (and yes, Lao Lao is on the phone)
* Flinging sand onto herself and exposing three bottom layers
* "Swimming" with mommy this morning
* Feeling sand for the first time
* Figuring out that new water receding sensation
* Smiling excitedly at the Siri in the mirror

Siri -- week 40

We've had yet another busy and exciting week. Siri went to the doctor's for her nine-month appointment and here are the latest stats:
Weight: 24 lbs 1 oz (>97the percentile)
Length: 30 1/4 inches (>97th percentile)
Head Circumference: 17 1/2 inches (between 50th and 75th percentile)

Siri is becoming quite the expert crawler and can get across the room in no time! It's very exciting for us to see her being so mobile, but she still has some trouble b/c of her size :) Also, Siri has decided to unveil her first word: BOOK. She started practicing saying it last Friday when my brother and Hanh were here, but was having some trouble with the "B" sound. We'd been hearing her practice enunciating the "B" for days, and finally today, she said "Book," but it sounds more like "buh-kuh." While Siri has been babbling for months now, we decided that her "first word" will be when she associates the word with the object (if there was no association then her first word as "nay" when she was 1.5 months old :)). And, here we are -- she happily, and correctly says book to books. Also, this morning she woke up, pointed at Jeff and said "da da" several times. So, two "first" words in one day. Pretty exciting stuff.
Auntie Jenn was with us last week and left on Thursday afternoon, and Jiu Jiu and Auntie Hanh joined us from Thursday night to Sunday afternoon. Siri LOVES her Jiu Jiu even more than her parents. We went to the SD ZOO on Saturday and Siri just wanted Jiu Jiu to carry her the entire time. She ended up taking a nap in the ergo while Jiu Jiu wore her.
Siri has also identified a "lovey" -- a pink, fuzzy blanket (for those with access to Jenn's blog, check out the ultra cute video). She loves to rub her face in the blanket, suck on it and just have it wrapped around her. She even demands to hold it when she's nursing. It's pretty cute since my "lovey" happens to be a blanket (which I've had since I was a baby), and it is currently in my dresser drawer and has traveled with me everywhere :)

Pictures from this week for your enjoyment:
* With Auntie Jenn before taking her to the airport
* Being held by Jiu Jiu at the zoo -- looking at some caged animal
* A cute koala hanging in between branches
* Sitting in a toy jeep and scrutinizing the passenger
* Happily petting a goat, which she really enjoyed
* Really upset by the Grinch
* Hanging out with Auntie Hanh
* Upper cutting Jiu Jiu (actually, she's just gripping onto his collar)
* Just being a happy baby sitting on Jiu Jiu's lap

Siri and Nana

I realized I didn't have any pictures of Nana and Siri in my camera from this last trip. Fortunately, Auntie Jenn took some on Nana's camera, and Nana shared them with me. So, here are some pics swiped from Nana :)

Clapping at the Getty Villa

Video of Siri clapping and being tentative about crawling. She crawls in the next video, but note that her crawling skills have much improved since the video was taken (last Sunday).

Crawling at the Getty Villa

Siri -- 9 months (39 weeks)

Apologies for the delay in blog updates. Today is Siri's nine month birthday, which also means she is as old as it took for me to gestate her. This is all very crazy, and I can't believe that she is already three quarters of a year old!

The past two weeks have just slipped by us with Jeff's BAR studying and us entertaining family. Nana was here beginning on July 1st, and Aunt Jenn joined us on the 9th. We have some VERY exciting things happening. Siri is now crawling! She first inched forward a couple of steps on Friday the 3rd, but was tentative, and she really crawled on July 4th. She's been getting better and better with each day. While we're all excited by this development, Evie is not. Siri now crawls up to Evie to try and touch her, which of course makes Evie very grumpy. Siri also pulled herself up to standing today, so we'll see when she decides to make her walking debut.

We visited the Getty Villa in Malibu with Nana last weekend, and all enjoyed the trip. Siri crawled a bit at the Getty -- I've been trying to upload the video, but it may be a bit too long. I will try again though. In the mean time, here are some pictures from the past two weeks.
* Siri wearing dress and bonnet that both Aunt Jenn and Aunt Cindy wore (I think...)
* Similey pictures taken by Nana
* Really happy sitting on marble at the Getty -- note: new scrunchy nose smile
* Laughing 'cause Nana was being silly
