Siri -- week 19

Here are photos from this week. Siri tries really hard to roll over, but since she's so big, she just gets super frustrated and cries instead. She really likes to pull on her toes and roll from side-to-side. We've also cultivated a bad habit -- she has to sleep in bed with us every morning after she wakes up around 6am, otherwise she will just talk and shriek in her crib (it also keeps us sane since she falls asleep almost immediately when she's in bed with us). We have no problems with bedsharing, except we're both so paranoid of rolling over onto her that we give her half of the bed. Since Evie takes up about 1/3 of the bed, Jeff and I are not left with very much room.

four month check up

Siri had her four month check up today and we're happy to report the following:

Weight: 18 lbs 12 oz (over 97th percentile)
Height: 27 inches (over 97th percentile)
Head: 16.5 inches (between 50th and 75th percentile)

It turns out Siri isn't necessarily a "chunk" since she's proportionate in weight and height; she's just big. Her head circumference reflects the fact that she got Jeff's small head :)

The doctor has advised us that we can start her on solids any time now since she is able to hold her head up steadily. We will be sure to not only report with words but also pictures when she makes the solids debut.

Will update pics in a few days.

Siri -- week 18

We've had quite a busy day today with people coming to hang out and visit with Siri. Despite the company, Siri behaved really well! We went out to lunch with our friend Justin, and we went out to dinner with our friends Mimi and Will -- she didn't fuss at all. As a matter of fact, she squealed really happily throughout dinner and the owner came by several times to look and smile at her.

Siri also LAUGHED for the first time yesterday -- a real, big girl laugh. Before this, her laughs have been more or less squeals. I was saying "babababa" to her and she must've thought it was hilarious because she started laughing. Jeff said the same thing to her tonight and she was laughing up a storm. It's really cute and a reminder of how fast she is changing and growing up!

Here are some pictures from the last couple of days since I just uploaded to the blog.

Four months old!

Siri turned four months old today! I can't believe how quickly (yet at times slowly) these past four months have gone by. We are definitely excited to watch our little princess grow up, but also sad that she's growing up too fast! We consider ourselves fortunate to have flexible enough schedules where we can both be a part of these exciting initial developmental stages on a daily basis. I think it's unfortunate when one parent (typically the dad) misses out on these day-to-day interactions. I know Jeff gets plenty of attention from women when he's out with Siri; I certainly look twice and smile in appreciation when I see daddies out with their babies.

I couldn't wait to upload these pictures, so here they are. Siri learned how to make a clicking sound with her tongue last week and woke up at 3am clicking for about an hour. This week, she is making "farting" noises with her mouth. Here are two pictures with her pursed lips, "farting." And, one of her naked on the changing table showing off all her chunkiness :)

Being tickled

Here's a video of Siri being tickled. She loves this game, although it's sometimes painful for mommy since she likes to grab and pull my hair.

Siri -- week 17

Here are some photos of Siri from this week. She's still not rolling over yet, but we think we may know the culprit: she weighs 18 lbs, which is over the 98th percentile for baby girls! So, it seems like we have a little chunk (according to our pediatrician) and it may take her a little while to be more mobile.

Siri is sleeping more each evening, but not through the night yet. We're hopeful that she will start doing that within the next several months.

Siri -- Week 16

Here are photos from this week. Siri is going through some developmental changes and some are more exciting than others. For one, she is now a distracted eater. She eats best during her nighttime feedings, otherwise she is distracted by what is going on around her. She stops eating to look around, coo and then resumes eating before doing the same thing again. It's cute, but also a bit frustrating because it takes that much longer for each feeding session to end. We've successfully transitioned her out of her snuggle nest (which was in the crib), and she sleeps really well in her crib without it. She does, however, sleep in the adult bed at least once throughout the day when napping. Siri has also learned to lift up both legs and move slightly from side to side. We're hoping she starts figuring out how to roll over soon.
