Year of the Tiger

Siri and I went to the Bay Area Discovery Museum yesterday with her baby friend, Anna (who is also Hapa). We watched lion and dragon dancing, then played around in the toddler room, which is Siri's favorite place ever! She loves it so much there, we have a membership to the museum :)

* Siri taking a break from all that playing
* Even door stoppers appear to be toys here!
* So excited to be at the discovery museum
* Playing nicely with Anna
* Sportin' some move I'm unsure of (all kinds of new things surface when she's having fun)
* Right after petting a lion
* a lion standing on its hind legs
* Dragon line (the only one in the nation consisting of all moms!)

Finger Paint

I was inspired to be creative and decided that our first project was going to be finger painting. I found a recipe to make finger paint and even let Siri choose two colors (she chose pink and yellow). Unfortunately, she did not like the activity because she found the paint on her fingers to be "ew." Here's a video of my failed attempt at doing a fun project with my child.

Siri's new hair do

Siri's nanny, Anna, put her hair up with clips and ties. Here are some pictures highly reminiscent of recent immigrants' kids or kids on the streets of China or Taiwan (some of you may get my drift...)

Pre New Year

The Lunar New Year is right around the corner, and we have been keeping busy. Jeff goes to work, Diana works from home or does field work, and Siri goes to daycare. Here are just a couple of pictures from this past week:

* Siri posing for the camera with a new facial expression (we had definitely not seen that one before)
* Scrunching herself into a tiny box
* Mesmerized by lion dancers
* Lion dancing at the Ocean View branch of SF Public Library
* Very seriously reading the pamphlet for a pediatric dentist

our little bobble head

Here is Siri bobbling her head along to the beat, and gets distracted by Evie.

pneumonia

siri had been recovering from a cold for the past week or so. although she was sniffly, she was still acting quite normal with a bit of a runny nose. but, on thursday morning, she woke with a very slight fever. we decided to keep her home. then, her fever spiked to nearly 104 farenheit around 11pm, so we rushed her to the emergency room. we stayed there for over two hours; siri underwent a nasal swab and chest xray in addition to standard er routine. she was diagnosed with pneumonia.

she's been taking antibiotics ever since and started seeming a bit more like herself yesterday. her fever also broke saturday evening, so we worried a little less. but, siri is a tough little girl -- even though she was feeling miserable, she still played and hung out when lao lao and lao lao lao came to visit. here are some photos from the brief visit (lao lao lao flew out of sfo on thursday evening to go back to taiwan).

* getting some fresh air the day the fever broke
