making music

Siri has discovered how to make "music" by banging her toys on hard surfaces. Here she is today, right after eating some rice cereal, making music with her frog rattle from Auntie Laura.

Siri -- week 24 (Oregon)

Here are pictures from our trip to Oregon. Siri poses with several people, including: Lao Lao; Gu Nai Nai; Auntie Laura (asleep in her lap) and Auntie Sarah. Also, there's a brief photo shoot of Siri hanging out during quiet time, working on her abs, plus Siri waving bye (or hi) en route to PDX

more of the babies

just downloaded these from the camera today and couldn't resist, so here they are...

Siri -- week 23

Siri has one prominent bottom that tooth is making an appearance and she is making sure that anything that goes into her mouth can feel it. She's also feeling her tooth with her upper gum, which means she's making a new facial expression (but we haven't captured it on film yet). She's laughing a lot more these days and it's really cute when she does it. And, she's doing quite a few crunches trying to pull herself up. Here are some pictures from this week. Nana, Auntie Cindy and Zane just arrived today, so here is a sampling of the cousins together (Siri - 5 months; Zane - 3 months). We'll be sure to have more pics of the cousins in the next posting.

changes to blog

as you can see, i have added the header to our blog and accidentally changed the background and font colors. i don't know what compelled me to do it, but it's done (not sure i love it though). and, in case anyone is interested, siri is now 20lbs 10 oz and outgrowing her 6-9 month old-sized clothing!

siri -- week 22

here are some pictures of siri from this week -- it turns out, we took a little more than i thought. oh and another exciting milestone is that siri now transfers toys from hand to hand. she is also pretty violent at shaking her rattles and actually threw one out of her crib this morning! we're also experiencing her teething with two small bumps appearing on her bottom gum (all that drooling now makes sense).

end of quarter madness

to our loyal blog followers: apologies for not uploading pictures this past week of siri. i'm in the midst of crazily grading student papers and finishing up final assignments for classes as this is the end of the quarter for me. jeff is busy, as usual with his law school stuff. so, we haven't taken many pictures of siri lately. i will try to upload some pictures this weekend, but no guarantees.

some things to celebrate are: (1) siri is now five months old! i can't believe how fast time has flown by; it seems like she was just born yesterday. (2) she has been able to briefly support herself by propping herself up with her arms. by briefly, i mean just that -- for about 2-3 seconds or so at one time. (3) siri is learning how to use one hand to touch things, especially our faces. she will examine our faces and then reach out and touch it. it's really cute and an indication that her cognitive abilities are developing along with her physical abilities. (4) she is becoming more attached to us and will cry if strangers hold her. she is kind of like a hippogriff -- needs to assess the situation (person) first and then she might allow someone to play with, and/or hold her :).

okay, that's all for now. i need to go to bed.

Siri -- week 20

We've had a fun latter part of the week -- Jenn has been visiting us for the past couple of days and Siri has enjoyed that quite a bit. Siri also met a baby for the first time yesterday, although she seemed much more interested in the adult. She's making some progress towards rolling over from front to back; she has rolled over a couple of times when Jeff presses on her feet. Major event of the week: Siri has started solids! She's having some rice cereal (thinned with breastmilk). Her first bite was immediately followed by a grimace, but she wanted more! She's been able to actually keep more of it in her mouth these past couple of feedings, as opposed to letting it dribble out.

Here are some pictures from this week. Note the photo quality is much better since Jenn has been our designated photographer :)
