siri's new kitchen!

assembly progress: one hour; all done by diana

assembly progress: two hours; jeff helped with four screw issues

finished product: three hours! jeff did all the tedious stuff with the hinges, attaching doors, etc. i was losing steam and patience after the two hour mark.

we just spent a good three hours assembling siri's birthday present. last week, siri and i had a playdate with her little friend, emma who had not one, but TWO kitchens. both were gifts. in fact, most of emma's toys were gifts or hand-me-downs -- this is the benefit of waiting until one's older to have children. siri loved playing with emma, well, mostly emma's toys. and, she was enamored with emma's big kitchen. jeff and i had originally planned to get siri a baby stroller for her birthday, but decided that she deserves a kitchen especially since the majority of her toys are leftover from her first year of life, and they all fit into one medium-sized cardboard box. we stress necessities (i.e. clothing), or educational things (i.e. books), and rarely (almost never) buy toys. i think this may need to change a bit since emma had five times the amount toys than siri. i feel like a bad parent for not providing her with age appropriate activities (i.e. toys).

we did an extensive search for wood kitchens, and stumbled upon this awesome retro set. it may have been a bit premature to purchase it already, but we had no idea how long it would take to ship here...it arrived today. we ordered it on sunday. go figure.

now you have a new reason to visit us: the awesome red kitchen! i'll be the first to admit that i'm super excited to play with it (once we get pots and pans, food, etc.)

OMG! That has got to be the COOLEST kitchen I have ever seen! WOW...where did you find that?? When Josh said you guys were getting her a kitchen, I pictured those cheap looking pink and cream colored ones I always see at the store. Good choice--this one is AWESOME! I can't wait to go buy Siri's birthday present :-)

i know, right? they also have the same set in pink :) we just did a search online for wood play kitchens/pretend play kitchens and went from there. we didn't want a tacky plastic one, although they were considerably cheaper...
