let the whirlwind begin

I'd been dreading the onset of June for quite some time.  I knew it would commence a new chapter of my life, our lives, and have braced myself for it.  A lot has happened since I last updated our blog.  I filed my dissertation, attended a conference in Honolulu, participated in commencement, went to Disneyland, and am now sans husband until Saturday as he apartment hunts in New York.  It's been a whirlwind of events, but sandwiched into these "major" events are daily happenings.  We still go to swimming lessons, we still visit the park, we still make meals, go to work, get dressed each morning and face the day.

I'm adjusting though to my new life change: adding a new option to the buffet of salutations.  The day after I defended my dissertation, I booked a rental car for my 6/8 drive from LAX to the OC.  That was the first time I selected "Dr." as a salutation on any form.  I didn't feel any differently.  So far, I have been called Dr. by my friends and family.  But, when my advisors and a committee member called me Dr. (a formality, I know), I found myself feeling unworthy.  I mean these are seasoned Drs!  Although we are now professional "colleagues," I imagine I will always feel less-than my advisors.
