siri chose "the lorax" as her first show and tell item

teacher kim's sons were home for spring break last week, and hung out with the kids. here they are, playing outside.

isa, stella and siri. one day, when we're living in the middle of nowhere, siri will look at these pictures and be upset that she went to a preschool that had a view of the ocean.

painting, just like monet. the artist of the month is monet, and when i showed siri a web photo of water lillies, she immediately said "monet."

luke supervises siri, lauren and stella as they help put away cots while listening to wagner (musician of the month).

field trip to the sloat garden center where they bought baby lettuce -- and planted them the next day.

teacher kim continues to email pictures (almost) daily. the kids are kept rather busy, and are exposed to an array of activities. siri has made some pretty good friends and can't stop talking about isa, stella, lauren and luke. occasionally, she also mentions harrison, lucas and harrah.

this morning, she accidentally slapped my face and when i asked her to apologize, she said something about harrison slapping her face. we're not quite sure whether that really happened or if siri is reinventing history.

my mom noted that siri's vocabulary and sentence structuring has improved immensely since she started preschool; we haven't really noted differences, but siri has become interested in some things that she didn't seem interested in the past. for example, she will bring the digital clock to me and ask me to tell her the time. i show her each corresponding number, then she repeats it. also, she knows the letter "a" pretty well from her exposure to zoophonics at school. she occasionally points out "a's" and pronounces "ah, ah" (just like allie alligator). and, she's getting pretty good at telling left from right, but i take all the credit for that one :) enjoy!
