the kids before or after their walk. they are (l-r): luke, james, siri, harrison, lauren, harrah, and isa. luke and siri are always playing together -- they actually ran up and down the hall together when we visited. looks like siri may have a new bff ;)
siri on her little cot. she was allowed to bring a stuffed toy and chose corduroy, which she had gotten as a parting gift from yi yi. siri insisted that corduroy also bring a blanket to school.
in celebration of valentine's day, the kids got cookies for their afternoon snack. teacher samantha is the only one smiling.
siri surrounded herself with babies, of course. it's official, folks, we now have a (pre) pre-schooler. siri started preschool at growing minds yesterday, and everything went very well. we prepped her for about two weeks and told her she would be leaving yi yi's to go to school. she seemed to know what was going on because on the last day at yi yi's house, she just kept hugging her throughout the day. when siri woke on monday morning, she asked "teacher kim's?" instead of her usual "yi yi jia?" we were pleased she seemed to grasp what was going on.
i think i may have been more nervous than siri about her first day of school. i packed up all the necessities the night before, and set out several cute outfits. on the morning of, however, i realized that cute outfits are not fitting for preschoolers, especially one in the throes of potty training. so, i settled on practicality, and chose a final outfit consisting of a mid-length shirt and leggings. siri wore yet another practical outfit today: wide-legged pants, long-sleeve t-shirt and a cardigan. teacher kim thanked me for dressing siri in practical clothing, and siri has had ZERO accidents over the past two days! we are so proud and excited.
since siri's first day was valentine's day, she and mommy made valentine cards for the teachers and other kids. this activity spanned roughly two weeks -- each session quickly ended with mommy wrestling away the scissors from siri. she got to distribute her cards during circle time yesterday, and couldn't stop talking about circle time after she got home. teacher kim emailed a couple of times throughout the day, and included photos each time. i also called to check in, and apparently, siri didn't ask about mommy or daddy. not even once. we're slightly offended.
today was about the same. when i called this afternoon, siri was sleeping soundly, and had already gone for a walk to the nearby reservoir. hope the novelty of preschool and "teacher kim" remains. she seems to have so much fun, and didn't want to leave both days when i went to pick her up.
enjoy the pictures from teacher kim! i took pictures the morning of her first day too, but they're still on the memory card -- will share those soon.
