Beijing

we got to beijing around noon, and checked into our hotel (novotel peace) shortly thereafter. the novotel peace hotel was in the wangfujing district, which is highly reminiscent of any major city. tourists were everywhere and our hotel was packed with non-chinese tourists. here are some pictures from our first night there. we all napped as soon as we freshened up and didn't wake until 7pm when we decided to check out the local scene. pictures here include siri getting ready to check out the wangfujing district, walking by modern buildings (which are sprawled across beijing), entering the night market for food, quickly listening to an opera performance atop a restaurant, and siri wide awake at 2:30am after having fallen asleep around 10:30pm. jet lag is no fun.
